Es fa una anàlisi del concepte subjacent al terme «màximes d’experiència». En primer lloc, intenta establir l’estat actual de la comprensió del terme per part de la doctrina. A partir d’això, s’adona de la diversitat de conceptes que es manegen i es proposa avaluar l’estructura lògica dels enunciats a què se sol catalogar com a màximes d’experiència i el rol que compleixen en la valoració de la prova. A continuació, el text cerca explorar el reemplaçament del terme pel concepte de generalitzacions i escull una classificació d’aquestes. Finalment, s’adverteix sobre alguns perills en la seva utilització i es proposen certs criteris per utilitzar-los en els raonaments sobre fets.

An analysis of the concept underlying the term «maxims of experience» is carried out. In the first place, an attempt is made to establish the current state of the understanding of the term by the doctrine. From this, it realizes the diversity of concepts that are handled and proposes to evaluate the logical structure of the statements that are usually classified as maxims of experience and the role they play in the evaluation of the test. Next, the text seeks to explore the replacement of the term by the concept of generalizations and chooses a classification of these. Finally, some dangers in its use are warned and certain criteria are proposed for its use in reasoning about facts.
