Fragmente-Stille, an Diotima (1979-1980) is a key work in the career of Luigi Nono (1924-1990). Nono composes his first string quartet so far after a period of silence in which he has reconsidered and delved into his work as a composer and thought about the bonds between music and personal and political issues. The deconstruction of the dichotomy between the intimate and social spheres, the conception of sound as multiple and based on relationships, and the building of a space and time axis in which everything is possible, all this appealing to an attentive and risky listening, are the main lines drawn up by the Nonian quartet

Fragmente-Stille, an Diotima (1979-1980), es una obra clave en la trayectoria de Luigi Nono (1924-1990). Nono compone su único cuarteto de cuerda tras un período de silencio que le lleva a replantearse y profundizar acerca de su labor como compositor y de los vínculos entre la música, lo personal y lo político. La deconstrucción de la dicotomía entre íntimo y social, la concepción de lo sonoro como múltiple y relacional, y la construcción de un espacio-tiempo que se abre a lo posible, todo ello apelando a la escucha atenta y arriesgada, son las líneas fundamentales que traza el cuarteto noniano
