La vil·la de Sant Menna de Vilablareix i el Suburbium de Gerunda

Archaeological works carried out in the uilla of Sant Menna de Vilablareix allow going deep in the knowledge of the suburb of the Roman city of Gerunda. Although the poor preservation of some structures, the preserved remains –especially in the baths and the necropolis, in which there were at least three funerary monuments– allow making comparisons with other nearby suburban uillae and defining a set of features of this kind of settlements closely related to the history of the urban nucleus of the ciuitas of Gerunda

Els treballs arqueològics realitzats a la vil·la de Sant Menna de Vilablareix han permès aprofundir en el coneixement del suburbi de la ciutat romana de Gerunda. Tot i l’estat d’arrasament de part de les seves estructures, els elements conservats, sobretot al sector dels banys i de la necròpolis, que disposava de com a mínim tres grans monuments funeraris, permeten establir comparacions amb altres vil·les suburbanes de l’entorn i definir tot un seguit de peculiaritats d’aquesta mena d’establiments íntimament relacionats amb la història del nucli urbà de la ciuitas de Gerunda
