Proposta d’itineraris ambientals a l’entorn del parador nacional d’Aiguablava (Begur, Baix Empordà)

The changes and tendencies of conventional tourisms towards another one more up-to-date it’s encouraging the appearance of new products, active in the divulgation of the natural environment, which are slowly gaining popularity amongst the general public. The growth of rural tourism and the increased awareness towards the conservation of natural areas has enabled the emergence of many initiatives that allow to interpret the heritage and thus cope with the demands and needs of the new tourist demand. One of these are the educational itineraries, routes with different stops in which it is explained the characteristics of the site and the importance of the conservation of its heritage values with the help of complementary media to the elements that make the site. This project aims to reflect that the environmental itineraries created in the grounds of the parador nacional d’Aiguablava (Begur, Baix Empordà) can act as a heritage conservational tool and become key instruments for managing the public use of natural protected areas (inside the EIN in the mountains of Begur). The project was initiated based on a background research in geology, history, archaeology and botany of the area of study and a recognition of significant natural and anthropic elements classified by some cards specially designed. From these cards it has been developed a scientific methodology based on the categorisation numeral hierarchization of the elements, through the creation of the Unique Potential Index or IPS (for its acronym in Catalan) in order to obtain the key points for the creation of the itineraries. Once these points are selected and located geographically the routes are created around the parador nacional of Aiguablava, which have been registered and broadcasted through the web together with the design and creations of support material with some triptychs, which complement the signalling system devised to achieve maximum environmental disclosure of the area. Ultimately it is performed an identification, mitigation and correction exercise of the environmental impacts generated by the use of the routes, as well as proposals for maintaining and managing them
