This paper describes the characteristics of the incidences registered in the beach of Sant Antoni de Calonge (Costa Brava); highlighting the need to include lifeguard nurses specialized in rescue service emergencies. Having a specialized lifeguard nurse would allow to effectively assess the risks and characteristics of the incidences in order to improve the quality of care. The study has been conducted with statistical analysis of the incidences registered by the team of lifeguards during the summer season (June-September) of 2014 on the beach of Sant Antoni de Calonge. It has been an observational cross-sectional study with a sample of 1144 participants. A descriptive and graphic analysis was made of the qualitative and quantitative univariant and bivariants variables with tests and corresponding tables for the concept of independence of variables, using the statistical program IBM SPSS v23.0.0. From the results we could identify a big volume of avoidable slight incidences with a good prevention, which in the case of occurrence need attention by experts with a suitable formation that guarantee the best performance, the detection of complications and some post-intervention recommendations based on each need. Although the results are not statistically significant, it is worth emphasizing the importance of a primary survey and a cardiopulmonary resuscitation when cardiac arrest occurs. Because of the variety and quantity of reported issues, it would be necessary to include emergency nurse with a specialization in beaches with the aim to attend any type of incidence. They can be operative in moderated and serious/very serious incidences and they are experts in slight incidences such as cares. All this would be beneficial to increase the quality of service, resulting on a better attention to the user and an impact on the increase of skills, with a new area in the specialization of emergency nurses
