By applying a heterogeneous slope model, this paper shows that unemployment state dependence varies across workers. Assuming a homogeneous effect of past unemployment on the risk of staying unemployed underestimates the scarring effect of unemployment in the majority of countries analyzed Sara Ayllón acknowledges financial support from the projects‘Negotiate’ (Horizon 2020, grant agreement no. 649395), ECO2013-46516-C4-1-R and 2014-SGR-1279 and Alexander Plum from the project KN 984/1-1 (German Research Foundation, DFG) |
