Efectivitat i especificitat del test de l’aigua i el test de volum-viscositat per la detecció de disfàgia en la fase aguda de l’ictus: projecte de recerca

The dysphagia is a swallowing disorder which has a high prevalence in people who have suffered an acute stroke. The main complications it shows are malnutrition, dehydration and bronchoaspirations, pneumonias and other respiratory infections. Dysphagia hinders the recovery of the patient, reduces his quality of life and increases the mortality and the hospital expense. Thus, in order to prevent any complications, it is important to detect the presence of dysphagia post-ictus. Nursing uses several tests for the detection of dysphagia, which have to provide the major safety to the patient and must be as effective as possible, even though so far there is no ideal test next to the patient’s bed. Objective: To compare the efficacy and the specificity of the water-swallowing test and of the volume-viscosity swallow test for the detection of dysphagia, applied to the people in an acute phase of a stroke who are hospitalized in the Hospital Dr. Josep Trueta in Girona. Methodology: A descriptive, bivariate and multivariate trial will be carried out, with a probabilistic random sample among the people from the region of Girona who have suffered an acute stroke and who are hospitalized in the Stroke Unit of the Hospital Dr. Josep Trueta in Girona, from January 1, 2021 until June 30, 2022. The variables to study are sociodemographic, clinical, associated to the nutritional condition, associated to the dysphagia and associated to the current disease ones. The tools that will be used to gather the information will be the waterswallowing test, the volume-viscosity swallow test and an Ad-Hoc questionnaire, which will include all of the study variables. The participant’s confidentiality and privacy will be respected, as well as their informed assent and data protection. The analysis of the information obtained will be carried out by the computer program SPSS
