Es vacunen contra la grip estacional els professionals de la salut?: revisió bibliogràfica

Background: Healthcare workers are exposed to a higher risk than other workers to get infectious diseases such as flu. Influenza vaccination rates by this group in most European countries are very low. The World Health Organitzation, nowadays, recommends coverage of 75% of healthcare personnel in health centers. Objectives: To review the current scientific evidence of influenza vaccination in healthcare professionals and identify the differences according to age, sex and occupational group, as well as knowing which factors can influence the decision to be vaccinated. Methods: A bibliographic review has been carried out during the months of January until database and PLOS medicine portal. The keywords used to perform the search were: Healthcare workers, influenza vaccine, immunization, compliance, coverage. The inclusion criteria of this review were: influenza coverage in health professionals (physicians, pediatricians, nurses, assistants, stretchers) all of them in any work conditional, seasonal influenza vaccine, English and Spanish articles, published in the last health personnel (administrative, cleaners...), pandemic influenza vaccine, personnel immunodepressed or with chronic diseases, the mandatory vaccination and non full text or payment articles. Finally, 15 articles were included in the sample of this bibliographic review. Results: It has been found that influenza vaccination is higher in men, in older age and in the group of physicians. The most important barrier to not being vaccinated are the fear of adverse effects, to doubt about the effectiveness of the vaccine and the lack of accessibility and/or time. The most common reasons are to protect yourself and protect others and to rely on the efficacy and safety of the vaccine. Conclusion: Flu vaccine coverage in most European countries is unacceptably low. More studies on this subject are needed an also more interventions to increase the rates and provide a safe environment for both the patient and the workplace which the health professionals are
