Efectivitat de la musicoteràpia com a tractament complementari al trastorn d’ansietat generalitzada: projecte de recerca

Introduction: Mental disorders are one of the greatest public health challenges in Europe, measured by prevalence, disease burden and disability, which represent high levels of use of healthcare services and a significant loss of quality of life for the patients and their families. With the rising pace of life and daily stress, anxiety disorders have become one of the most common problems in our society. Nowadays there’s awareness of the high presence of the so-called "under treatment" of anxiety and depressive disorders, and those who do receive some kind of treatment, these are usually not entirely effective in lightening the symptoms. On the other hand, music is a self-curative pattern that humanity has been using since immemorial times for helping to eliminate tensions, lack of affection and all kinds of emotions, express joy through dance, pain of death through funeral marches, tenderness in lullabies, love in romantic songs, courage in warrior dances, etc. Music could be helpful in individuals with anxiety and depression to perceive and maintain their own identity or most positive sense of himself and increase the level of happiness and their mood directly related to the feeling of wellbeing. This study intends to confirm the efficacy of music therapy as a nurse intervention in the care of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Aim: Evaluate the efficacy of music therapy as a complementary therapy in the treatment of GAD. Methods: An analytical, almost experimental and prospective study, which will be carried out at the Center of Mental Health of "El Gironès". The study population will include all those who are treated in the same center and diagnosed according to the DSM-V criteria of GAD. The sample will be selected by means of a sampling of convenience. The data collection procedure for measuring the study variables will be based on providing a series of self-administered and hetero-administered questionnaires to the different participants. Quantitative and qualitive data analysis will be carried out using the SPSS statistical program
