Posada al dia dels estudis genètics de la gamba vermella Aristaeomorpha foliacea

Aristaeomorpha foliacea (Risso, 1827), also known as red shrimp, is a crustacean belonging to the Aristeidae family. It is a deep-water species with a global geographical distribution that inhabits in the seabed at a depth between 80 and 3.300m. Commercially, A. foliacea constitutes the basis of the trawling fisheries sector in many countries, especially on the Mediterranean coast. In order to ensure the conservation of a species that inhabits at great depths and the continuity of it as a resource, genetics facilitates the study and allows it to be directed in the most diligent way: through molecular techniques, the genetic stocks can be precisely delimited, species can be identified and knowledge about the behaviour of the species, its natural history and current and past demographic factors can be provided in-depth. Thus, this study assesses the current state of genetic knowledge of A. foliacea and specifies the genetic areas on which further research efforts are needed in order to address the existing gaps. The search of the bibliographic material was done through the scientific databases SCOPUS and WOS. First, the proper name of the species was used as a keyword and then, the articles were filtered selecting the categories with genetic, molecular and biochemical content. Once the articles were obtained, we analysed and assessed which ones were relevant for inclusion in this study. Thus, 7 articles were obtained and categorized in the thematic blocks of "Phylogenetic classifications", "Population analysis" and "Development of genetic tools". The results of this work indicate the scarce effort that has been invested in the genetic research of this marine decapod and point out the areas that are still unknown, such as: providing a consensuated Penaeoidea and Aristeidae phylogeny; providing a consensuated Penaeoidea and Aristeidae phylogeny; discovering possible new genetic stocks throughout the entire distributional range of A. foliacea; stablishing the global microstructure within genetic populations of the species and testing the existing genetic tools.
