Els coneixements d’infermeria sobre la detecció i actuació davant una sèpsia greu a urgències: projecte finalitzat

Introduction: Sepsis has evolved along the years because of its high incidence and mortality. It has been proved that the early detection and early administration of antibiotics may substantially diminish mortality. The knowledge of the nursing professional about detection, for instance Quick – SOFA, the initial treatment and the severe sepsis code can help get a better outcome. Aim: The main objective was to evaluate the nursing professional’s knowledge in front of severe sepsis at the emergency department in the hospital of Manacor. Methodology: We carried out an observational, transversal and analytical study. It was carried out through surveys to the nursing professionals. The surveys involved nine questions, grouped in three categories of knowledge; knowledge about the sepsis detection scale, about the treatment and about the severe sepsis code. Outcomes: We observed that the average score on the Knowledge of the nursing professionals was of 4,5 out of a total of 9. We observed that a percentage of 44,7% did not have any knowledge of the Quick – SOFA scale. On the other hand, 51,1% showed a high knowledge about the initial treatment on sepsis, another 38,3% had a low knowledge on the severe sepsis code. Conclusions: The general knowledge of the nursing professional on sepsis in this emergency room to have a medium grade. According to the knowledge on the Quick – SOFA scale of the nurses, that was very low. However, we observed a high knowledge about the initial treatment on sepsis, and a medium – low knowledge about the severe sepsis code
