Intervenció urbanística a Herculaneum

La idea d’aquest projecte sorgeix arran d’un concurs d’idees per estudiants que es convoca l’abril del 2018 per realitzar una intervenció a Herculà organitzat per Start for Talents. Es tractava de dissenyar una escola d’arqueologia en un solar al costat de les ruïnes. Aquest solar va quedar buit en els últims anys. Es troba en una cota elevada del jaciment arqueològic amb vista a aquest i en el transcurs del camí de la Milla d’Or, via que connecta diferents viles Vesuvianes de rellevància. Es demanava crear un signe contemporani que es relacionés amb les ruïnes, i que a part de ser un centre educatiu fos un important punt de reactivació urbana. El tema em va semblar molt interessant i motivador, i durant els primers mesos de treball d’aquest projecte es van seguir les pautes imposades pel concurs. No obstant això, a mesura que estudiava el lloc vaig trobar que el projecte em portava per altres camins. El fet que sota el solar de treball es tenia constància de l’existència de ruïnes, i que l’antiga ciutat s’estenia sota l’actual Ercolano, i especialment la poca i mala relació entre els espais urbans de les dues ciutats van ser factors determinants per canviar el curs del projecte. D’aquesta manera encara que tenia plantejat l’edifici de l’escola, la idea de poder fer una intervenció urbanística que tractes aquests temes principals em va resultà tan imperiosa que vaig desestimar el projecte anterior i em vaig dedicar íntegrament a la nova intervenció, que encara que era més amplia em resultava molt més al·licient.

However, a as I studied the site I found that the project took me along other paths. The the fact that under the work site there was evidence of the existence of ruins, and that the old city extended under the current Er colano, and especially the little and bad relationship between the urban spaces of the two cities were determining factors to change the course of the project. In this way, even though the school building was planned, the idea of power make an urban planning intervention that you deal with these main themes turned out to be so imperative that I dismissed the Project previous and I dedicated myself entirely to the new intervention, which, although it was more extensive, was much more enticing to me.
