Arranjament del Monestir de Sant Salvador de Breda. Centre artesanal de la ceràmica i nou museu Josep Aragay : Intervenció en la memòria històrica i col·lectiva de Breda

Aquest projecte pren el punt de partida en el monestir de Sant Salvador de Breda amb la voluntat de recuperar la memòria històrica i col·lectiva del poble. Es tracta d’un edifici catalogat per la llei 9/1993 del Patrimoni Cultural Català com a Bé Cultural d’Interés Nacional (BCIN) el qual originàriament (S XI) s’havien desenvolupat les funcions derivades a la vida benedictina dels monjos de Sant Salvador. El monestir va abandonar definitivament el seu ús original després que es fes oficial la desamortització de bens eclesiàstics de 1835. Des de llavors l’edifici va prendre el caràcter d’habitatges entre mitgeres que van començar a modificar la composició d’obertures, forjats i divisòries com també la incorporació del pati de l’abadia i el claustre, molt deteriorats, en la trama de carrers del nucli del poble. L’abast d’aquest treball és investigar i documentar-se sobre el monestir de Sant Salvador, des dels seus orígens fins el seu estat actual; com també la repercussió i influència del monestir en el creixement del poble i de la seva morfologia, l’aprofitament del sòl i l’explotació d’aquest, el treball, la vida quotidiana, les festivitats i tot alló que forma part del teixit social, econòmic i cultural del poble. A partit d’aquí l’objectiu és fer una radiografia dels condicionants i elements que conformen el seu entorn a nivell paisatgístic, urbà, social, cultural, i d’oportunitat d’ús. És per això que el treball s’ha centrat en l’entorn més proper i els elements més singulars del poble: el monestir, la terrissa i la figura de Josep Aragay.

This project takes its starting point in the monastery of Sant Salvador of Breda with the will to recover the historical and collective memory of the town It is a listed building under Law 9/1993 on Heritage Catalan Cultural as a Cultural Property of National Interest (BCIN) which originally (S XI) had developed the functions derived from life Benedictine of the monks of Sant Salvador. The monastery left definitively its original use after the confiscation of ecclesiastical assets in 1835 became official. Since then the building took the character of houses between midges that began to modify the composition of openings, forgings and partitions as well as the incorporation of the courtyard of the abbey and the cloister, very deteriorated, in the network of streets of core of the town. The scope of this work is to investigate and document the monastery of Sant Salvador, from its origins to its current state; how also the repercussion and influence of the monastery on the growth of the town and its morphology, the utilization of the soil and its exploitation, the work, everyday life, festivities and everything that is part of the fabric social, economic and cultural of the town. Starting from here, the objective is to make an X-ray of the conditions and elements that make up its environment at landscape, urban, social, cultural, and opportunity for use. That is why the work has focused on the closest surroundings and the most unique elements of the town: the monastery, the pottery and the figure of Josep Aragay.
