En l’actualitat estem en un constant canvi tecnològic, fet del qual tot el que coneixem evoluciona constantment cap a un terreny més agradable en el medi ambient. És per això que hi ha moltes aplicacions que poden ser molt més eficients, substituint sistemes convencionals per sistemes actualitzats dels quals tinguin molt poc cost energètic. Els portals automàtics són una característica comuna en moltes cases, proporcionant comoditat i seguretat als residents. Avui en dia, aquests portals s’accionen mitjançant motors elèctrics, els quals requereixen un consum significatiu d’electricitat per al seu funcionament. No obstant, el consum d’aquesta electricitat en els portals automàtics de les cases planteja diversos problemes
