Ecos de ruïna

La intervenció es situa a l’antic convent de monges caputxines, actualment abandonat. La comprensió de la història de l’edifici i l’anàlisi del lloc han permès identificar les principals problemàtiques, definint l’essència del projecte en tres estratègies clau. En contrast amb un edifici que genera carrers estrets i foscos, s’obren noves entrades i passos estratègics que permeten incorporar part de la ciutat al seu interior. Aquestes noves obertures facilitaran una circulació pública de vianants, com si es tractessin de carrers del barri vell. El nou edifici, concebut com un equipament públic, acollirà diverses activitats relacionades amb l’alimentació, creant un fòrum gastronòmic amb nous espais verds pels veïns. A més, resoldrà la manca d’aliments bàsics a preus assequibles i contribuirà a la creació d’un sentiment de comunitat. Per últim, la tercera estratègia que dona forma al projecte, consisteix en aprofitar les noves connexions amb la trama de la ciutat per fer-hi arribar la vegetació de la vall de Sant Daniel fins a l’interior de l’edifici. A més, aquesta simbiosi entre ciutat i natura es materialitzarà amb l’aparició d’horts urbans, que afavoriran al nou programa alimentari alhora que es crea un teixit natural dins la mateixa ciutat.

The intervention is located in the former Capuchin nuns’ convent, currently abandoned. A historical and site analysis has made it possible to identify the main challenges, defining the essence of the project through three key strategies. In contrast to an enclosed building that generates narrow and dark streets, new entrances and strategic passageways are proposed to integrate part of the city within the site. These openings will facilitate pedestrian circulation, functioning as extensions of the Old Quarter’s streets. The new building, conceived as a public facility, will host a range of activities related to food, creating a gastronomic forum complemented by new green spaces for local residents. In addition, it will address the lack of affordable basic foodstuffs while fostering a sense of community. Finally, the third strategy shaping the project consists of extending vegetation from the Sant Daniel valley into the interior of the building through these new urban connections. This dialogue between city and nature will also be reinforced by the creation of urban gardens, which will support the new food program while generating a natural fabric within the city itself.
