La Bressol : La llar d’infants del Barri Vell

El projecte té com a objectiu cobrir una de les necessitats més reclamades pels veïns del barri: dotar el Barri Vell d’un equipament preescolar que actualment és inexistent en la zona. Aquest projecte no només busca proporcionar un servei essencial, sinó també dinamitzar el barri i promoure la interacció social i l’activitat diürna. La llar d’infants s’ubica a la plaça Pere Sacoma, al carrer del Portal Nou, on actualment se situen un conjunt d’edificis de protecció oficial que no compleixen amb les condicions mínimes d’habitabilitat, trobant-se en un estat de precarietat i insalubritat. Tot i l’existència de diferents equipaments culturals al voltant del Portal Nou, aquests no generen suficient activitat durant el dia en els carrers de la zona, deixant aquesta cara del Barri Vell oblidada i inactiva. La proposta parteix de la idea de crear un espai que els infants es puguin fer a la seva mida. S’opta per projectar una escola fluida, on els nens i cuidadors la puguin adaptar a les seves necessitats. Un lloc on ells mateixos puguin experimentar amb l’espai, amb l’entorn i amb les sensacions. En planta baixa, es proposa un espai que es relaciona directament amb la vida pública del carrer. S’hi situa un espai polivalent pensat per a la realització de diverses activitats que es poden portar a terme tant dins com fora de l’horari educatiu, fent que l’edifici sigui funcional el màxim d’hores possibles. A sobre d’aquesta planta baixa, se situa la vida més privada, la de l’infant. La geometria de l’escola bressol es basa en els principis de la neuroarquitectura, aplicant formes orgàniques i corbes que promouen un ambient segur i acollidor pels infants. Aquests dos espais se separen, però alhora es relacionen entre si per permetre establir lligams intergeneracionals que afavoreixin el desenvolupament dels infants.

The project aims to address one of the most pressing needs voiced by the residents of the neighborhood: to provide the Old Quarter with a preschool facility, which is currently non-existent in the area. This initiative not only seeks to deliver an essential service but also to energize the neighborhood and encourage social interaction and daytime activity. The nursery is located in Pere Sacoma Square, on Portal Nou Street, where a group of public housing buildings currently stands. These dwellings fail to meet the minimum standards of habitability, existing in a state of precariousness and unsanitary conditions. Despite the presence of several cultural facilities around Portal Nou, they do not generate enough daytime activity on the surrounding streets, leaving this side of the Old Quarter overlooked and inactive. The proposal is grounded in the idea of creating a space tailored to children. The design envisions a fluid school, adaptable by both children and caregivers to their needs. A place where they can experiment with space, with their environment, and with sensory experiences. On the ground floor, the project incorporates a space directly connected to the public life of the street: a multipurpose area designed to host a range of activities, both within and beyond educational hours, ensuring the building remains active for as many hours as possible. Above this ground level lies the more private realm — the child’s world. The geometry of the nursery school is inspired by the principles of neuroarchitecture, using organic and curved forms that foster a safe and welcoming environment for children. These two realms — the public and the private — remain distinct yet connected, allowing for intergenerational bonds that enrich the children’s development.
