El mobiliari urbà a la ciutat de Girona

This research study analyses the urban furniture of the city of Girona from a technical, functional, aesthetic and social perspective. The main objective is to produce a catalogue of the most representative elements of the centre of Girona (benches, litter bins, fountains and bicycle parking), delving into their history, materials, characteristics and impact on daily life. The methodology combines theoretical research, fieldwork with photographs and technical sheets, an interview with a councillor of the City Council and a citizen survey. The study highlights the importance of urban furniture in the quality of life, the need for a balance between functionality and aesthetics, and the relevance of maintenance and coordination between municipal departments. It also highlights the lack of citizen awareness of the cost and importance of these elements, as well as the problem of vandalism. The conclusions propose improving municipal coordination, promoting citizen information and establishing a unified catalogue to optimise costs and maintenance, while promoting functional, aesthetic and sustainable urban furniture

Aquest treball de recerca analitza el mobiliari urbà de la ciutat de Girona des d’una perspectiva tècnica, funcional, estètica i social. L’objectiu principal és elaborar un catàleg dels elements més representatius del centre de Girona (bancs, papereres, fonts i aparcaments de bicicletes), tot aprofundint en la seva història, materials, característiques i impacte en la vida quotidiana. La metodologia combina recerca teòrica, treball de camp amb fotografies i fitxes tècniques, una entrevista a un regidor de l’Ajuntament i una enquesta ciutadana. El treball destaca la importància del mobiliari urbà en la qualitat de vida, la necessitat d’equilibri entre funcionalitat i estètica, i la rellevància del manteniment i la coordinació entre departaments municipals. També es posa de manifest la manca de consciència ciutadana sobre el cost i la importància d’aquests elements, així com la problemàtica del vandalisme. Les conclusions proposen millorar la coordinació municipal, fomentar la informació ciutadana i establir un catàleg unificat per optimitzar costos i manteniment, tot promovent un mobiliari urbà funcional, estètic i sostenible
