El Repte de la Sostenibilitat Hídrica : Compliment Normatiu i Impacte Econòmic en el Sector Agroalimentari Espanyol

Aquest treball analitza el repte que suposa la sostenibilitat hídrica per al sector agroalimentari espanyol, amb un enfocament al compliment normatiu i les seves implicacions econòmiques. A partir de l’estudi de la Directiva Marc de l’Aigua (DMA), l’Agenda 2030 i les Normes Europees d’Informació sobre Sostenibilitat (NEIS), especialment la NEI E3 sobre recursos hídrics i marins, es revisa l’aplicació i l’impacte sobre dues empreses rellevants del sector: Noel Alimentaria i Ebro Food. La recerca combina un anàlisi teòric de la normativa amb una part pràctica centrada en l’avaluació del compliment normatiu i l’eficiència econòmica entre el 2020 i el 2023, mitjançant ràtios hídrics i financers. Els resultats mostren una correlació positiva entre l’adopció de pràctiques sostenibles i la millora econòmica, tot destacant el compromís anticipat de Noel i la progressiva adaptació d’Ebro Foods. El treball va concloure que la inversió en sostenibilitat pot representar una avantatge competitiu real per a les empreses, tot i els desafiaments associats als costos ia l’augment del preu de l’aigua

This paper analyses the challenge of water sustainability for the Spanish agri-food sector, with a focus on regulatory compliance and its economic implications. Based on the study of the Water Framework Directive (WFD), the 2030 Agenda and the European Sustainability Information Standards (ESIS), especially the ESIS E3 on water and marine resources, the application and impact on two relevant companies in the sector are reviewed: Noel Alimentaria and Ebro Food. The research combines a theoretical analysis of the regulations with a practical part focused on the assessment of regulatory compliance and economic efficiency between 2020 and 2023, using water and financial ratios. The results show a positive correlation between the adoption of sustainable practices and economic improvement, highlighting Noel’s early commitment and Ebro Foods’ progressive adaptation. The work concluded that investment in sustainability can represent a real competitive advantage for companies, despite the challenges associated with costs and the increase in the price of water
