This research work offers a complete view of the tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus), combining a theoretical part with a practical investigation. The theoretical part analyses the biology of the species, its origin, habitat, biting behaviour, diseases it can transmit, areas where it is present and breeding sites. The control measures applied by the administrations are also studied, with special attention to the case of Catalonia and the prominent role of the Mosquito Control Service of the Bay of Roses and Baix Ter, which acts as a reference in the management of this problem. The practical part consists of a field research with traps to detect the presence of the tiger mosquito, detailing the material used, the method followed, the development of the study, the collection of data and the analysis of the results. The work concludes with a discussion on the impact of this insect on the local environment and possible management strategies. The annexes include other insects found and a collection of news that contextualise the problem

Aquest treball de recerca ofereix una visió completa sobre el mosquit tigre (Aedes albopictus), combinant una part teòrica amb una investigació pràctica. La part teòrica analitza la biologia de l’espècie, el seu origen, hàbitat, comportament de picada, malalties que pot transmetre, zones on és present i llocs de cria. També s’estudien les mesures de control aplicades per les administracions, amb especial atenció al cas de Catalunya i al paper destacat del Servei de Control de Mosquits de la Badia de Roses i del Baix Ter, que actua com a referent en la gestió d’aquesta problemàtica. La part pràctica consisteix en una recerca de camp amb trampes per detectar la presència del mosquit tigre, detallant el material utilitzat, el mètode seguit, el desenvolupament de l’estudi, la recollida de dades i l’anàlisi dels resultats. El treball conclou amb una discussió sobre l’impacte d’aquest insecte en l’entorn local i les possibles estratègies de gestió. Els annexos inclouen altres insectes trobats i un recull de notícies que contextualitzen la problemàtica
