Origen i evolució del nomenclàtor del Barri Vell de Girona

This work analyses the historical and morphological evolution of the Barri Vell of Girona, focusing on the urban nomenclature as an identity and cultural element. Based on a chronological review, the urban transformations and the causes that have motivated the changes in the naming of the streets are examined, grouped into four main origins: popular, religious, historical-political and social. The study incorporates the municipal criterion in the management of the nomenclature, the relationship with the language and signage in Catalan, as well as a comparison with other European cities. The research is complemented with interviews with experts, a detailed index of the streets of the Barri Vell, historical reviews, classifications and press articles. The conclusions highlight the importance of the nomenclature as a reflection of collective memory and urban identity

Aquest treball analitza l’evolució històrica i morfològica del Barri Vell de Girona, centrant-se en el nomenclàtor urbà com a element identitari i cultural. A partir d’una revisió cronològica, s’examinen les transformacions urbanístiques i les causes que han motivat els canvis en la denominació dels carrers, agrupades en quatre grans orígens: popular, religiós, historicopolític i social. L’estudi incorpora el criteri municipal en la gestió del nomenclàtor, la relació amb la llengua i la retolació en català, així com una comparativa amb altres ciutats europees. La recerca es complementa amb entrevistes a experts, un índex detallat dels carrers del Barri Vell, ressenyes històriques, classificacions i articles de premsa. Les conclusions posen de manifest la importància del nomenclàtor com a reflex de la memòria col·lectiva i la identitat urbana
