Educación comprometida con las artes, educación comprometida con la sociedad

La lectura del texto de Joan Subirats (“Educación y compromiso social”) me ha sugerido algunas relaciones con mi propio trabajo e investigación, sobre todo porque el autor propone considerar las enseñanzas artísticas como un factor de equidad con respecto de las condiciones de partida en nuestro sistema educativo. Lo que intento en esta reflexión es argumentar que la mudanza de las artes al corazón de la educación no afecta solamente a ese factor, sino que puede ser una respuesta inteligente para otros de los cambios necesarios que apunta Subirats, tanto en los aspectos substantivos como en los instrumentales y metodológicos. Creemos que las artes son una clave para abordar la diversidad humana y social en la que estamos inmersos, tanto como el desafío tecnológico que está cambiando todas las maneras de con-vivir, de encontrar sentido a la vida y de ganarse la vida. Además, añadimos otro factor de cambio, la crisis ecológica, como uno de los grandes dilemas que habrá de abordarse con la educación y con las artes

The talk “Education and Social Engagement” has suggested some links with my own work and research, in particular the consideration of artistic teaching as a factor for equity with respect to conditions of departure in our education system. My purpose in this paper is to argue that the movement of the arts to the heart of education does not only affect that factor, but also can be an intelligent response for other needed changes described by Subirats, both in the substantive aspects and instrumental-methdological ones. My thesis is that arts can be considered a key to address the deep human and social diversity in which human being are immersed, as well as the technological challenge that is changing all the ways of living. In addition, another factor of change is discussed, namely, the ecological crisis, as one of the great dilemmas to be addressed with education and the arts
