L’aplicació de la Certificació WELL a la unitat psiquiàtrica de l’Hospital Santa Caterina

There is a growing body of research showing that architecture has a great impact on people’s health and well-being. This impact becomes pivotal in environments as vulnerable as mental health centers, as it directly affects the recovery of patients. The WELL certification takes into account ten parameters that have an impact on the physical and psychic well-being of users. This work focuses on the acute psychiatry unit of Hospital Santa Caterina. The different parameters of the WELL certification are studied and it is determined that currently, this unit does not meet all the compulsory requirements. In this framework, improvement proposals are made to guarantee obtaining the WELL certification. In addition, several proposals have been given to reach the highest level of qualification (WELL Platinum Certification). Although these proposals’ implementation involves an economic cost, it is expected to have a return on this investment because it will improve worker’s performance and the recovery of patients

Cada cop hi ha més estudis que demostren que l’arquitectura té un gran impacte en la salut i el benestar de les persones. Aquest impacte esdevé especialment important en ambients tan vulnerables com són els centres de salut mental, ja que afecta directament la recuperació dels pacients. La certificació WELL té en compte deu paràmetres que repercuteixen en el benestar físic i psíquic dels usuaris. Aquest treball se centra en la unitat d’aguts de psiquiatria de l’Hospital Santa Caterina. S’estudien els diferents paràmetres de la certificació WELL i es determina que actualment no es compleixen tots els requisits per a obtenir-la. En aquest context es fan propostes de millora per a garantir l’obtenció de la certificació WELL i assolir el màxim nivell de qualificació (Certificació WELL Platí). Tot i que l’aplicació d’aquestes propostes implica un cost econòmic, s’espera un retorn d’aquesta inversió perquè millorarà el rendiment dels treballadors i la recuperació dels pacients
