Evolució de les hortes de Salt de la segona meitat del segle XX a la primera dècada del segle XXI

We can say that Salt has vegetable gardens thanks to the type of soil, the climate and, especially, due to the Monar canal and the entire network of irrigation channels. The work has served to learn about the history of the vegetable gardens of Salt from the mid-20th century to the first decade of the 21st century and relate it to the evolution of the town. The vegetable gardeners who cultivated a small garden for self-consumption became known as menerons, and the vegetable gardens they cultivated were called family vegetable gardens. On the other hand, there were professional vegetable gardeners who had much larger vegetable gardens of their own. In these vegetable gardens they grew vegetables or seedlings to sell

Podem dir que Salt té hortes gràcies al tipus de sòl, al clima i especialment, degut a la sèquia Monar i tota la xarxa de regueres. El treball ha servit per conèixer la història de les hortes de Salt des de a mitjans del segle XX fins a la primera dècada del segle XXI i relacionar-ho amb l’evolució del poble. Els hortelans que cultivaven una horta d’extensió reduïda per l’autoconsum es van passar a anomenar menerons, i les hortes que cultivaven rebien el nom d’hortes familiars.
