La adaptación a la jubilación y sus fases: afectación de los niveles de satisfacción y duración del proceso adaptativo

This research attempted to describe, according to the model of Atchley (1975), the experience of the adaptive phases, the changes of life satisfaction levels and the duration of the process and its phases. A total of 30 retired people were interviewed in depth, representated their Life Chart Methodology-retrospective (LCM-r) on the life satisfaction levels and responded to the Life Satisfaction Index. The results show that even though the retirees did not all experience exactly the same adjustment processes, most of the stages were found. It is also noteworthy that during the adustment process large fluctuations were observed in the level of satisfaction experienced by the participants, but once they had adjusted to retirement their degree of satisfaction returned to levels similar to those reported before retirement. Substantial differences were also found with regards to the duration of the adjustment process, which fluctuated from six months to more than a year

El presente trabajo se propone identificar, partiendo del mode-lo de adaptación a la jubilación propuesto por Atchley (1975), la vivencia de las diversas fases adaptativas, la afectación de los niveles de satisfacción vital y la duración tanto del proceso como de sus fases. Un total de 30 personas jubiladas fueron entrevistadas en profundidad, representaron su Línea de Vida (Life Chart Methology-retrospective o LCM-r) asociada a los nive-les de satisfacción vital y respondieron al Life Satisfaction Index. Los resulta-dos obtenidos muestran que, a pesar que no todos los jubilados experi-mentan la totalidad de las fases propuestas por Atchley, se constata su presencia entre los participantes. Durante el proceso adaptativo se obser-van importantes fluctuaciones en los niveles de satisfacción percibida a pesar de que una vez alcanzada la adaptación a la jubilación, dichos niveles se asemejan a los informados al final de la etapa laboralmente activa. Se constatan importantes diferencias respecto a la duración del proceso adap-tativo que oscila, de los seis meses para la mayoría de los participantes, hasta más allá del año y medio para algunos de los casos.
