The number of preterm births is increasing every year and it is expected that the numbers will increase in the coming years. Faced with this health problem it is necessary to promote investigation in this area, improving the care of these children and their families. A baby is considered premature when born with a gestational age less than 37 full weeks, presenting anatomical and physiological immaturity. This clinical complexity requires a multidisciplinary optimal care where nursing is very important. It is responsible for providing a quality care tailored to the characteristics of the baby, to strengthen the bond and unity of family, to help learning and encourage the participation of parents. To get a proper attainment of concepts are necessary communication and information issued by health professionals, however, each person has knowledge, competencies and motivation different, that is, each person has a different health literacy. Knowledge of health literacy level of all those parents who have a premature baby hospitalized would facilitate the exchange of information and the consequent learning, ensuring the consolidation of concepts, continuity of care outside the hospital and empowering parents to make decisions regarding the health of their children Objectives: Determine the level of health literacy of parents of premature children hospitalized in the NICU of University Hospital Dr. Josep Trueta of Girona and identify their level of satisfaction towards the attention received from health professionals at the hospital. Methods: Cross-sectional study with quantitative and qualitative methods where study sample will be all parents of children admitted to the NICU at the University Hospital Dr. Josep Trueta. The quantitative data will get from the questionnaire HLS-EU-Q and the qualitative data from focus groups will be carried out in the hospital The data analysis will be carried out using SPSS for quantitative data and program Nvivo for qualitative data
