Autoconcepto y bienestar subjetivo en la primera adolescencia

Aquesta tesi té com a objectiu principal explorar el funcionament de diferents escales de benestar subjectiu i una d’autoconcepte en una mostra de 1.126 adolescents de 10 a 14 anys. Els instruments utilitzats són l’escala Autoconcepte-Forma AF-5 (García i Musitu, 1999), l’escala abreujada de satisfacció amb àmbits de la vida (BMSLSS) (Seligson, Huebner, y Valois, 2003) l’Índex de Benestar Personal (PWI) (Cummins, 1998; Cummins, Eckersley, Van Pallant, Vugt i Misajon, 2003), l’ítem únic de Satisfacció Global amb la vida (OLS) i l’ítem únic de Felicitat Global amb la vida (HOL). Explorem també les relacions entre les esmentades escales de benestar subjectiu i l’autoconcepte en la primera adolescència i si hi ha o no diferències en funció del sexe, el curs i l’edat. Els models d’equacions estructurals suggereixen una relació de causalitat recíproca entre benestar subjectiu i autoconcepte, recolzant la idea que participen d’un mateix supraconstructe.

The main objective of this thesis is to explore how different scales of subjective well-being and self-concept work in a sample of 1,126 adolescents aged 10 to 14 years, students from different schools and colleges in the province of Girona. The instruments used are the self-concept scale AF-5 (García & Musitu, 1999), the Brief Multidimensional Student’s Life Satisfaction Scale (BMSLSS) (Seligson, Huebner, y Valois, 2003), the Personal Wellbeing Index (PWI) (Cummins, 1998; Cummins, Eckersley, Van Pallant Vugt, & Misajon, 2003), the single-item scale: overall satisfaction with life (OLS) and the single-item scale: overall happiness with life (HOL). We also aim to explore the relationship between the referred scales of subjective well-being and self-concept in early adolescence and whether there are gender, age or school year differences. Structural equation modelling suggests a reciprocal causal relationship between subjective well-being and self-concept, supporting the idea of both being part of a supra-construct.
