Apoderament individual dels i les joves amb monoparentalitat sobtada: influència d’un incident crític en les transicions juvenils

En el present article es presenten els relats de quatre joves que han compartit percepcions sobre el què ells creuen que, arran de la seva experiència de monoparentalitat sobtada, els ha apoderat a nivell individual. Ens hem centrat en famílies on els fills esdevenen monoparentals en la seva etapa d’adolescència i/o joventut a causa de la mort del seu pare o mare amb l’objectiu d’identificar les principals oportunitats i els obstacles que, o bé potencien, o per contra debiliten el poder d’elecció i decisió d’aquests joves. Els resultats posen de manifest diferents habilitats apoderadores destacant, entre d’altres, la capacitat crítica, l’autoestima, l’autonomia o els meta aprenentatges. Tanmateix, es descriuen factors limitadors que poden obstruir l’apoderament individual juvenil com ara el refús inicial de la pèrdua i el posterior desencadenament de sentiments negatius, intrusius i/o danyosos, l’absència sobtada d’un dels dos referents del nucli o la fragilitat de les xarxes familiars. Es conclou amb alguns elements rellevants que emergeixen dels seus relats com la inevitable transformació i modificació de l’estructura familiar amb el canvi de rols, funcions o responsabilitats en els seus membres; o la resiliència que desenvolupen molts d’aquests joves a l’haver-se d’espavilar i accelerar el seu procés d’apoderament

In this article we present the stories of four young people who have shared their perceptions about what they think that, as a consequence of their sudden single parenthood, have empowered them individually. We focus on the families whose children became single-parent during their adolescence and/or youth due to the death of their father or mother. Our objective is to identify the main opportunities and obstacles that either strengthen or weaken the capacity of choice and decision of these youngsters. The results show different empowering abilities among which we remark the critical capacity, the self-confidence, the autonomy or the meta-learnings. Nevertheless, we identified limiting factors that could obstruct the individual youth empowerment such as the initial refusal to the loss and the consequent negative, intrusive and harmful feelings, the sudden absence of one of the two nuclear referents or the fragility of the family networks. We conclude this article with some relevant elements that emerge from their histories such as the inevitable transformation and modification of the family structure with the consequent change of roles, functions or responsibilities of its members; or the resilience that develop many of these young people due to the necessity to make progress and accelerate their empowering process
