Les necessitats d’oci i temps lliure al poblat de Sifoe, Gàmbia

El present article té com objectiu conèixer l’oci i el temps lliure dels infants de les zones rurals de Gàmbia. La recerca se centra en conèixer l’ús de l’oci i el temps lliure dels infants d’entre 9-12 anys d’un poblat, Sifoe, així com valorar les necessitats que els infants gaudeixin de temps lliure segons diferents perspectives professionals. Per tal de detectar aquestes necessitats la metodologia desenvolupada a la recerca ha estat de tipus mixt. S’ha realitzat un qüestionari on van participar un total de 76 infants, tots ells residents de Sifoe i 8 entrevistes que s’han elaborat tenint en compte la perspectiva de diferents professionals que treballen amb els infants de Sifoe i d’altres que estan dins d’ONG’s. A partir d’aquests resultats s’observa com l’educació en el lleure o la utilització del joc com a eina d’aprenentatge és pràcticament inexistent ja que gran part dels infants dedica el seu temps en treballs no remunerats, especialment les noies que no tenen les mateixes oportunitats que els nois. ONG’s com Somara i Daughters of Gambia estan duent a terme una intervenció socioeducativa enfocada a reduir la desigualtat de gènere en l’àmbit esportiu i a l’hora estan promovent l’oferta d’oci i temps lliure a les zones rurals de Gàmbia

The purpose of this article is to know the leisure and free time of children in rural Gambia. The research focuses on knowing the use of leisure and free time of children between 9-12 years of a village, Sifoe, as well as analysing the needs of children to enjoy free time according to different professional perspectives. In order to detect these needs the methodology developed in the research has been of a mixed type. A questionnaire was carried out, with a total of 76 children, all of them resident of Sifoe, and 8 interviews that took place taking into account the perspective of different professionals who work with the children of Sifoe and others that are inside of ONG’s. Based on these results, it is observed that education at leisure or the use of the game as a learning tool is virtually non-existent, since most children spend their time in unpaid work, especially girls who do not have the same opportunities as boys. ONG’s such as Somara and Daughters of Gambia are conducting a socio-educational intervention focused on reducing gender inequality in the sports field and at the same time promoting leisure and recreation in rural Gambia
