Una plaça pel poble : Conservació del patrimoni com a monument i la seva dualitat com a espai públic

El treball se situa en el nucli històric de Sant Julià de Llor, un petit indret a la vora del riu Ter on es conserva un pont romànic del segle XI. Aquest pont, avui inaccessible i sense aigua, havia estat temps enrere una via de comunicació molt important a la zona, donat que garantia el pas i la comunicació del municipi amb la Cellera de Ter. Malgrat la importància històrica i la bellesa del lloc, aquest pateix una degradació evident. El creixement de la població en altres punts i les transformacions de l’entorn han fet que aquest espai hagi anat perdent protagonisme, fins a gairebé convertir-se en un racó oblidat. És en aquest context que neix el projecte, amb l’objectiu de conservar i revitalitzar el nucli històric. Per això, es plantegen dues estratègies principals: recuperar la connexió que el pont facilitava amb la Cellera de Ter i crear un espai públic que pugui esdevenir un punt de trobada per a la gent del poble. Aquesta voluntat es materialitza amb la construcció d’un pont-plaça, que segueix el traçat del pont antic i fusiona dos conceptes en una sola idea. Al llarg d’aquesta nova estructura neixen una successió d’espais que conviden al visitant no només a travessar-la sinó també a quedar s’hi. Així, a través d’aquesta intervenció es busca no només recuperar una connexió física que en un passat ja havia existit sinó també recuperar aquella connexió intangible del poble amb les seves arrels, entorn i veïns.

The work is located in the historic village of Sant Julià de Llor, a small place by the Ter river where a Romanesque bridge from the XI century is conserved. This bridge, which is now inaccessible and has no water, was once a very important communication route in the area since it ensured the passage and communication of the municipality with la Cellera de Ter. Despite the historical significance and beauty of the site, it is suffering a very clear degradation. Population growth in other areas and transformations of the environment itself have caused this space to gradually lose its prominence, to the point of amlost becoming a forgotten spot. It is in this context that the project emerges, with the aim of preserving and revitalizing the historical town. To this end, two main strategies are proposed: to restore the connection that the old bridge provided with la Cellera de Ter and to create a public space that becomes a place for town gathering. These intentions take shape through the construction of a bridge-square, which continues the path of the old bridge and merges two concepts into a single idea. Along this new structure, a succession of different spaces emerges, inviting the visitor not only to cross the bridge but also to stay in it. Therefore, the aim of the intervention is to restore a physical connection that once existed in the past, but also to recover the intangible bond between the village and its roots, surroundings and neighbours.
